this at least once. Familiar spaces that evoke discomfort and fear – this is the liminal space, with the "backroom" being a prime example. The word "liminal" is derived from the Latin "limen," meaning "threshold" or "boundary." Liminal spaces are places with such boundary-like characteristics, often referring to everyday but empty public spaces like deserted shopping malls, swimming pools, hotels, subways, and supermarkets. In liminal space imagery, one can feel anxiety, emptiness, disconnection, fear, strangeness, and unfamiliarity. We wanted to express the emotions felt in these liminal spaces through video and chose a Korean apartment as the background. The apartment, which is also the title of this video, is the most common type of housing in Korea.
